A strategic noise map of Sofia

GIS-Sofia Ltd. win a tender issued by Sofia Municipality under the Public Procurement Act for the development of a Strategic Noise Map in the Environment of Sofia Agglomeration. We successfully developed a strategic noise map for the environment of Sofia agglomeration in 2009 in partnership with SPECTRI Ltd.

The work is based on the PROTECTION FROM ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE ACT (PFENA) and Directive 2002/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council regarding the assessment and management of environmental noise.

The purpose of the Strategic noise map is to provide the noise levels coming from all possible noise sources - transportation (road traffic, air, tram and railway transport), industrial and general noise from all sources. 24 plan maps of the agglomeration represent the noise levels of various sources by parts of the day - day period 7:00 to 19:00 pm; evening period 19:00 to 23:00 h, night period 23:00 to 7:00 am and an all-day round noise level.

Under Directive 2002/49/EC an update of the Strategic noise maps is carried out over a period of 5 years where necessary. The last update of the map was made 2017.
