Between 17-21 may at the National Palace of Culture, Sofia was held FIG Working week 2015. The theme of the event was „From the wisdom of the ages to the challenges of modern world”.
Tanya Madzharova, GIS-Sofia participant, Photogrammetry department, defined the event as “The most prestigious international event hosted by Bulgaria during last years”.
History
FIG is the premier international organization representing the interests of surveyors worldwide. It is a federation of the national member associations and covers the whole range of professional fields within the global surveying community. It provides an international forum for discussion and development aiming to promote professional practice and standards.
FIG was founded in 1878 in Paris and was known as the Fédération Internationale des Géomètres. This has become anglicized to the International Federation of Surveyors. It is a non-government organization (NGO), representing more than 120 countries throughout the world, and its aim is to ensure that the disciplines of surveying and all who practise them meet the needs of the markets and communities that they serve.
Ten commissions lead FIG’s technical work. Each member association appoints a delegate to each of the commissions. Detailed information on the work of the commissions, their work plans, working groups, seminars, newsletters and publications can be found at www.fig.net/organisation/comm/.

Technical Programme and Proceedings
During FIG working week 2015 were organized lots of events and sessions, including young surveyors european meeting, FIG general assembly, FIG member association forum, round table on regional network – Africa, workshop of young surveyors.
The Bulgarian Session was held on Monday, 18 May. The presenters were:
- Svetoslav Tsarovski, Military Geographic Serves - Accuracy Evaluation and Quality Control of Digital Orthomap-Sheets
- Georgi Zlatanov, GEOCAD - The Use of Photogrammetric Methods in Drawing up a Cadastral Map
- Neli Zdravcheva and Peter Todorov - Airborne Laser (LiDAR) Bathymetry for Precision Capture and Survey of River Beds and Belonging Territories
- Neli Zdravcheva, University of Architecture, Civil engineering and Geodesy -Mathematical Modeling of Integrated Errors in the Image Coordinates of the Points of Photogrammetric Images

Exhibition
Technology and Cartography exhibitions were held during the event. Maps of GIS-Sofia Ltd. were presented on the Cartography exhibition.
